CARDINALS FOOTBALL BABY!!

By: SS Barkley
May 5th, 2010

WOW!! It seems like it has been FOREVER since we talked AZ Cardinals Football. Well to tell you the truth it has seemed a little uneventful so not too much to talk about… Please correct me if I am wrong and fill me in on the jaw dropping news I may have missed but other then the recent draft the Cardinals seemed to have stayed low key except for a few practices and drills.

So back to business, what are your thoughts of the Draft results? Come on I know you have an opinion!!!
I am hopeful of John Skelton, he may not be Kurt Warner, but he seems to have a powerful arm. John, the 6’5” 245lbs Fordham Quarterback who passed over 6000 yards in his college career says “it just feels right to be with Arizona.” He is from El Paso, TX and had been training for the NFL Combine here in Phoenix so it seems to be an easy adjustment for him. I wish him the best of luck and hope to see him have play time to show us that power throw.
The Re-singing of Nose Tackle, Bryan Robinson with a 1 year contract should not come as a surprise since he has started with the Cardinals the past 2 seasons. But this re-signing does follow the First Round Draft pick of Nose Tackle, Dan Williams of Tennessee; I guess it is safe to say we are covered in that position.
Alan Faneca, an Offensive Guard from the New York- Jets has reportedly been picked up. He says that playing for the Cardinals is “IDEAL for him” because it puts him back with Coach Ken Whisehunt and Offensive Line Coach Russ Grimm who he played for in Pittsburgh. Do you think that his relationship with the coaches will give him the upper hand at the starting Left Guard position against Reggie Wells?
With the sending of McFadden and his $4.75 million salary to the Steelers it moves the young, Greg Toler, the fourth round pick last year, to the starting lineup for cornerback. This move sets him up to be the fourth cornerback to start opposite Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in the past three years.

A couple other new Cards to mention:
O’Brien Schofield, Outside Linebacker, still recovering from surgeries is hopeful to put his pass-rush skills to the test and develop into a starting outside linebacker
Jorrick Calvin, Cornerback, is to compete for backup’s and special-teams work, but will try and prove he can start at cornerback and be a successful kick and punt returner.
Jim Dray, Tight End, with the Cardinals having a decent depth at tight end, Dray will do well to make final cut, but needs to prove to be both a solid receiver and reliable blocker to have a long career.

Let me see your comments, don’t be shy!! They are some exciting new Cards to watch! So here’s to the 2010 season BABY!!! Let’s get the kick off started!! Can’t wait to be tailgating, and making my fantasy picks!! I can smell the fresh cut grass and BBQ already!

John Skelton has a great throwing arm, he will be a great addition to the Cards. This could be a great season for the team. Great site by the way. Price Per Head
